FAQ's

All Things Considered is a platform designed to help considerate consumers (like you) navigate and understand today’s fashion industry.

Founded in 2021 by serial entrepreneur John Holt and seasoned retailer Andréa van der Meel, All Things Considered was born from the shared knowledge of this duo and their desire for transparency within the fashion industry.

In today’s industry so full of greenwashing, information is an essential tool for conscious consumers to educate themselves and make the important next step to being a considerate consumer.

All Things Considered collates sustainable and ethical information directly from retailer websites, to provide you with more insight into the brands you are supporting. It is also a space to have your say, upvote the brands you want to support and downvote the ones you think could be better.

Our goal for All Things Considered is to build a community within the sustainable fashion movement, and create a space for people to learn, educate and be aware of their impact.

We have four different types of associations;

  • Certifications
  • Initiatives
  • Innovations
  • Tools.

Certifications are third-party standards, guidelines, and metrics put in place to measure a brand’s sustainable and ethical efforts. Think PETA Approved Vegan, Certified B Corp, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and Bluesign, for example.

Initiatives are projects geared toward positive change and making an impact! They could be led by organisations, associations, pledges or campaigns. Think Fashion Revolution, 1% for the Planet, Fair Wear Foundation, and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC)

Innovations cover the latest sustainably focused technology and innovative thinking. This could be supply chain mapping tools, textile waste minimisation, or fabric/fibre innovations. Examples include Circulose®, MIRUM®, and FABSCRAP.

Tools feature various consumer-facing websites or apps that help shoppers better navigate the ever-green-washed sustainable fashion space. This could be an app that helps consumers resell their clothing like Airrobe, or other sustainable fashion directories like Ethical Made Easy.

At All Things Considered, we have a team dedicated to locating and aligning sustainable associations & certifications with brand profiles. The goal is to give you all the relevant information so you can better navigate this greenwashed industry. Basically, we do all the internet searching and stalking, so you don’t have to!

The information on our profiles is sourced directly from company websites to showcase what each company is saying and doing about their ethics/sustainability. Currently, profiles are curated by our dedicated team at All Things Considered. Diligently populated one by one, it can take time, but we want to ensure we are giving you all the information you need to make educated choices. In the future our platform will be driven by artificial intelligence so we can populate profiles even faster, so keep voting and leave the rest to us!

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. ALLTC is all about progress, and when brands make moves or you learn something new, we want to give you the chance to change your mind… & vote!
